Holden's Birth Story

So I've been meaning to post it (Holden's Birth Story) for a while... but it's entirely longer than I expected (amazing what you can jot down over the course of six weeks.) I'm sure if I would've written all of it within a week of Holden's birth, the details of the O.R. and post-op would have been more easily recollected...

That said, I think that the story is more for Holden and I than anyone else...but in the interest of true transparency -- I've posted it, if you'd like to take some time (and it will take some time) to read.

Since it really is too long to be a post, I've published it at Our Favorite Birth Stories.

Perhaps some of you may have experienced some of the same things, felt the same way, understand completely or think I'm coming from left field....

But it's our story -- and I think it's perfect in it's madness, messiness and divine intervention.

That was amazing Sabrena. Thanks for sharing it. Holden is lucky to have such a wonderful mamma to document the entire process in such an amazing way.

I can relate on so many levels. I too went in with a hypnobirthing plan and came out with a cesearean. It's tough, the wierd shame associated. Especially when it's with your first. Very raw emotions. You are going to be so glad you took the time to write that all down. What a treasure Suite! Thanks for letting me peek in on such a personal experience.

And for whatever reason, things seem to happen just as they should I'm finding out in life. Even unplanned cesearans. Something to be learned and gained.

Thanks again for sharing. You are a fantastic writer.

Loved that story. Love that you have it all in perspective even though it didn't go your way. Life plays dirty little tricks on us but we learn from them. And.... you certainly did! Welcome Baby Holden! Hurray!

thanks for sharing that with us sabrena. what an adventure holden's life has already brought on....enjoy it!
you really are a talented writer. you can relay your emotions so well...however fragile yet completely "normal" they are!
now go and enjoy the craziness of a newborn because really, it is over soooo fast. my 13 month old gracie is no longer a baby and i am no longer worrying about sleeping and eating habits...it all works itself out, just trust your instincts. you are a wonderful mommy.

I loved reading this. You are my hero. (I'm being totally serious.) I tell my husband all the time that I need to be more like "my Boss." You can imagine me being pregnant, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure that every day, "I'm having a day." ;)

Also, we need to talk about hypno birthing, because I'm pretty sure it's the way I need to go. (Unless, of course, life steps in and changes my plans.)

Thanks so much for sharing this, and for your sweet comments on my blog. I think you're the bomb. Dot com.

P.S. Haven't attempted the booties yet. I can crochet a ring around the moon, but booties scare me. I'm just counting on my mama to whip a pair up whenever Baby Cheney should become shoeless. :)
